What is Stress Management?
A vital component of health is our ability to manage daily stressors. Stress is a broad term that encompasses various areas such as mental stress from work or school, physical stress from an injury or trauma, emotional stress from relationships or self-worth, and metabolic stress from nutritional deficiencies. To be alive is to be exposed to all these stressors. It is part of the human condition. Stressors give us the opportunity to grow, experience, and learn from what is presented to us. Stress is only pathological if we loose our ability to manage them. Knowing how to deal and when to deal with stress is a crucial component of our overall health. Having the appropriate techniques to manage stress is a way to prevent our bodies from being overwhelmed and overloaded.
